looks great for the east coast. I am expecting above normal snowfall for our region. But 80″ +? Sound too good to be true to me. But thats just me lol But in the words of my Aunt, I’ll believe it when i see it
Hmmm, his snowfall projections seem believable for parts of the upper midwest and Northeast, but his projections for the rockies and mountain west, as well as a few other areas make absolutely no sense at all, in fact, I would go as far as to say he is a little on the ignorant side, because he is not taking topography into account at all, and that is extremely important to have any kind of accuracy.
for instance, Flagstaff and the entire rim there in Arizona, they average almost as much snow as the Rockies do, so 10-20″ for the entire year, that would be all-time record low snows for them, on the flip side of the coin, 60-70″ for Colorado Springs would be near record high snowfall, whereas, 20 miles north, on the palmer divide, that same amount of snow would be much below average, as we normally see 100-120″ a year on average, also, since when do the deserts of western Wyoming ever get 80+” of snow on average, that is unheard of, they are lucky to get 30″ in an average year, also, our central mountains in Colorado normally recieve 180-300″ a year depending on which mountain range, his projections are showing a mere 60-70″ for the whole year, I would call that record dry.
Even in the midwest, the whole UP of michigan doesn’t all recieve over 80″ of snow each year, as that area also is highly tied to topography, so his forecasts on what an average winter is, is not even close to accurate.
Looks alright for SC..but 30-40 inches for the whole winter? Even I have my doubts about that and I’m no professional. Lol. I mean..if that happens then awesome. But man..30-40″. Would really nice..
Are these people who make the youtube videos professionals or just average people? I think if they arent professionals I would just take their videos with a grain of salt but than again they could be right. The only people I take serious is Mother Nature and God because they are the ones that really know what will happen.
@ Snowangel- I agree 100 Percent. Only God and Mother nature have the last say. Hopefully…they will allow us snow lovers so snow this year though. Lol.
Whta happens if the eastcoast doesnt get all this snow and cold and we go into another snow drought or it’s warm and muggy again? or what if we get avg cold and snow? I’m tellin you dont depend on peoples guesses. Just be ready for anything. But i am contracted out east for plowing so i may have a busy season and never be home out making money which is good cause since last year ive lost alot of money over the snow drought and the summer drought and heat!
@Grandin I hope it snows like crazy all over the east for you. I dont think the water content cant take anymore drought rain and snow. Hopefully every state gets a good amount of snow and cold.
Me too Dan, I damn near lost everything. Another winter like last year and I’m out of business. I’m so stressed out right now, I can tell you, the “winter haters” who want a warm winter make me sick, some people depend on snow to make a living, I’m one of those. Here’s to hoping Mother Nature is taking her meds this year !!! lol Karen
winter haters suck i hate them too. And i do hope it snows like crazy and it’s cold to the bone. I’m just telling everyone dont get hyped up over a forecast that may or may not be wrong. Last year everyone was wrong besides the winter haters. I hope u bank in this year Karen and i hope i bank in as well. I got a strong feeling we both will be busy this winter. I been seeing sings of a bad up coming winter since late august. and as i type i type it’s allready 31 degrees outside and the heat has been kicking on all weekend. But i may build a fire in the fire place and cheat the gas and power company and save money.. P.S. – im stressed out to businees wise Karen. things will work out in the end..
