With the NAO plummeting and the AO likely to stay negative, residents in the Northeast can expect a big snow event by Christmas. Models are beginning to catch on and I expect to see even more support over the next coming days.
May be a White Christmas…

Lucky you guys, looks like we get a dry, snowless Christmas, just like 2010-2011, it seems every scenario leaves the Front Range with nothing, and worsening drought.
Damn you, mother nature, stop ignoring us.
U mentioned the northeast in this but what about Ohio?
I hope you are right- I know that you and I are both in the same area of Connecticut. I don’t know about you, but this weather is really starting to depress me! I don’t think I can deal with another winter like last year.
I hope you are right also! I am getting tired of rain
any chance it might go thru Missouri?
Probably be snowless for us here as well. I’ve never seen a white christmas here in South Carolina. Hopefully other folks will get to enjoy some snow on the ground on Christmas day
.
Perhaps I could be wrong about a snowless Christmas, if it doesn’t warm up significantly, and we can get another storm or two to put down at least a decent amount of snow, then it MIGHT just happen, we finally had some snow on Saturday night, about 7 inches, and a cold snap with temps that dropped into the low teens yesterday, and lows that dropped below zero, unfortunately, we will warm into the 40s this week, but if it all doesn’t melt by this weekend and the storm tracks right for the weekend, then we can finally start building a small snowpack that will at least keep the fire danger down when the downsloping winds hit.
Hurray! It is great to read these comments and hear from other people who are not asking for extremes, just normal weather! Here in Pennsylvania it remains between 10 and 20 degrees warmer than average, and even though they have predicted we will get 8 inches of snow in the month of December, it will probably all be in one event. I love snow and cold weather and am happy to read your posts.
hum. cold precip forcasted for the 18-19th. hope it pans out.
Ok Guys this sounds great; my question is what about the Mid-Atlantic? Specifically Richmond Va.?
