Only in the last couple of days have the meteorologists upgraded this storm to a potential blizzard, but now it is verifying. Liquid ratios of 30:1, sustained winds of 40+ mph and whiteout conditions will all but guarantee a blizzard. Snowfall forecast is 16-28 inches. Have around 4 inches so far, but the snow is to pick up after dusk and fall 1-3 inches overnight and into tomorrow morning.
All of my previous snowpack melted, so this will cover the green grass and make it look like the middle of winter again in NNE.

Send some our way. Green and muddy here!
What a historic storm… and it isn’t even over! It’s almost impossible to measure accumulation due to the heavy winds and drifting. Some spots on the ground are completely bare, and drifts are up to 4 to 5 feet. I’d estimate the average is about 2 feet (24 inches). Snow is falling at 3 inches per hour. The wind is very heavy, and visibility is almost nothing. The heavy snow will continue into the afternoon before tapering down, and I wouldn’t be surprised to have at least another 5 to 8 inches of snow before this is done.
This would bring total snowfall into the 30 inch range, which would be our biggest storm in quite a few years. This is more like the 1990s.
Fort Wayne would really appreciate a storm like that
I’d love some snow, but I think the volume of wind and snow that you’re getting is a tad more than I would like. good luck and stay warm.
Grand total was 26.4 inches, according to the NWS. With drifts all over the place, I’ll take their word for it.
It took a long time to clean up, but by yesterday evening the driveways were shoveled and the roads plowed, and life goes on.
Until Monday and Thursday when more snow is possible.
