We have had excessive rain in the southeast this spring and garden plants (tomotoes) are yellowing at the bottom and some of the early squash plants are producing small fruit then blossum begins to rot (golden egg squash, butterstick squash). In this area of the country, we plant in raised beds. I have read that too much moisture can rob the soil of nitrogen, which impedes the uptake of calcium in the plant cell structure. I have applied more calcium to the soil. Question: should I apply more nitrogen to the soil or just wait for the ground to dry out.
