I love weatherlore! Before long (August & September) this blog will be filled with folks hoping for a cold, snowy winter. Looking for any sign that’ll tell us that nature is preparing for a “good” winter. Also, by then we’ll be so sick and tired of the heat that just the thought of cooler temperatures coming soon offers relief. I love it when this happens. It’s almost like the FA family come back home. Some of the best signs that we look for are the wooly worms, foggy August mornings, acorn production, and squirrels bushy tails along with huge spider webs. Mother nature gives us clues we just have to be smart enough to catch em . Oh my I almost forgot one of the main ones we like….the fruit that has spoons or forks or knives in them. Persimmons I think. How can I miss that one? We get excited when someone finds and opens them to see how many spoons or shovels we see which indicates lots of snow!!
Snowlover, I agree. I love it when we all come back to the forum this time of year and start sharing our predictions. It makes the summer more bearable somehow. Right now, it is about 100 degrees, and I think it goes without saying that I am sick of it! We are watching Christmas movies to get through the rest of the heat wave.
Keep those predictions coming, everyone!
If leaves fall early a mild winter
if leaves fall late a cold snowy winter should be the opposite way around I think
