I have heard so many different stories about the signs of winter. Can somebody explain to me what is a "persimmon" seed? What does it mean when people say the shape of a fork or spoon found in one? Where can they be found, in what area? What are some of the signs a cold and snowy winter? Thats just what I'm looking for!! :D :) 8-)

A Persimmon is a fruit if I'm not mistakeing. A feller across the road from me has a Persimmon tree in his yard. The story of the Fork, Spoon, and Knife comes from the persimmon seed. legend has it that if you crack open a persimmon seed, you will find one of three ketchin utensil shapes. If you crack a seed open and get a spoon, legend has it that you'll have a very snowy winter. If you get a knife, the winter will be very cold. So cold, that the wind will 'slice' right through you. If you get a fork, the winter will be mild, with some snow.

But, these deffinitions of the utensils are actually somewhat controversial. Some say that if you get a spoon, you won't have much snow. If you get a knife, you'll slice through winter like a knife through warm butter (meaning, winter will be mild), and if you get a fork, you'll have to 'dig in' to your extra supplies during winter, due to how harsh it'll be.

Take whichever deffinition you want, to heart. To be honest, I'm going with the first set of deffintions ^_^! I've cracked a few open already, most had spoons, with the exception of a few knives. I'm in South Carolina, so BRING ON THE SNOW!

Your very welcome. I need to crack open a few more, to see if the seeds have changed anyway. Always get your fruits from the same tree!
