5 Fun Cures for Spring Fever

5 Fun Cures for Spring Fever

Spring is here! In many areas the weather is cooperating – the birds are out and flowers are starting to bloom—but other areas, snow is still on the ground.

Here are some ways to help spring come a little quicker in your area:

5. Take down all winter, Christmas decorations. They should all be down, but many areas had a rough winter. Get outside and get them down. It will help.

4. If the sun is shining, open the shades and curtains. If it’s warm enough, open a few windows and let that fresh air in!

3. Go on a picnic! Even if you can’t do it outdoors, have one on your living room floor. Make picnic goodies like hamburgers and hot dogs, potato salad, ice cream!

2. Get outside! If you live in a warm area – get out there and enjoy that nice weather. Go for a walk, rake some leaves, just get outside. If you live in a cold area, bundle up but get outdoors on the next nice day. You may be surprised at how refreshing that clean, crisp air is.

1. Map out a garden! Even if it's a window box, take some time to plan what you're going to plant and when. Herbs, flowers, and tomatoes are good plants to try.

If you notice a hole in the upper left-hand corner of your Farmers' Almanac, don't return it to the store! That hole isn't a defect; it's a part of history. Starting with the first edition of the Farmers' Almanac in 1818, readers used to nail holes into the corners to hang it up in their homes, barns, and outhouses (to provide both reading material and toilet paper). In 1910, the Almanac's publishers began pre-drilling holes in the corners to make it even easier for readers to keep all of that invaluable information (and paper) handy.
