Re: Keep Deer out of garden
Hi All!
I live about 1/2 hour...
Farmers' Almanac Tips
Keep things easy this month. Check out some of our favorite Farmers' Almanac Tips:
- Keep two sets of measuring utensils for baking. Use one set for dry ingredients, the other for wet. Not a minute will be lost washing cups for reuse.
- Use leftover eggnog and stale bread to make scrumptious French toast.
- Make a fertilizer spreader do double duty. Use it in the winter to scatter sand on icy walkways.
- For unique wrapping paper, use silk scarves or handkerchiefs instead of disposable materials.
- Paper from an electric shredder makes great packing filler for mailing fragile gifts.
- Used gift wrap and tissue paper can be shredded and used as an attractive filler for gift bags.
- Recycle last year’s Christmas cards by turning them into gift tags. Remove the inside text part and use the front picture as a “to” and “from” label.
- Use potpourri (instead of Styrofoam peanuts) when mailing something fragile. The recipient will enjoy the aroma and be able to reuse it.
- For a special touch, include a recipe with your holiday or birthday cards.
- Has the family outgrown baby spoons? Use them for jellies, jams and other condiments.
- Looking for a unique gift for kids? Give them a small photo album with family pictures.
- Don’t throw away that mustard squeeze bottle! Wash and deodorize with baking soda. Filled with frosting, it’s great for decorating cakes and cookies.
- Mailing cookies this holiday season? Before you bake, think about what types of cookies or goodies will travel the best. Solid cakes and cookie bars, or moist, soft drop cookies travel the best. Use packaging materials in layers, and wrap cookies in pairs, back to back. Cushion them all with popcorn which will also provide another edible in the package.
