Favorite Fall Flowers

Autumn is right around the corner, but the gardening season is not over yet. There are many plants that will continue to bloom, add color, and weather over nicely as the temperatures begin to cool off.

While asters, hardy mums, and ornamental cabbages have long been the staple of the fall garden, blooming well after the first frost, they are now making room for new varieties like “Icicle Pansies” and “Icicle Violas.” Notable for their ability to overwinter when planted in
the fall, these are bred specifically for cold climates. Planted in late summer or early fall, they’ll bloom until the snow flies and again in early spring, often even before spring bulbs.

Other fall-hardy plants include mums, ornamental kales, flowering cabbages, and dusty miller.
