Christmas Cactus
HELP! I have a Christmas cactus...

Sedums in a Shoe

Jennifer Carlson © 2007

Do you ever wonder what to do with your worn out shoes? Why not plant them?

What you need to get started:

An old shoe or boot

A small bag of potting soil and compost

3-5 varieties of sedums in 2” pots

A large nail

Hammer

Gardening trowel

Now let’s begin:

  • Turn the shoe upside down.
  • Pound a few drainage holes in the sole of the shoe with the large nail.
  • If the shoe has laces, loosen or remove them.
  • Fill the shoe with moistened compost/soil mix
  • Arrange sedums inside the shoe
  • Set the shoe on a sunny porch step and voila!
