Dry skin can be a problem in cold, winter weather and again during the dry, hot summer months. Winter winds and dry, indoor heat can have a chapping and cracking effect on exposed skin. In summer, the hot rays of the sun also dry and damage the skin. Here are some helpful skin care tips:- Avoid smoking and beverages containing alcohol that dehydrate the body. Drink water.
- Avoid hot showers, because they tend to dry the skin.
- Harsh soaps dry the skin. Use glycerin soaps.
- Mist your face using a mini spray bottle of distilled water containing drops of lavender essential oil.
- Add milk bath powder to the bathwater o soften the skin while bathing.
- Treat your chapped, cracked, dry hands while you work in the garden or sleep. Apply aloe vera lotion or vitamin E oil to the dry areas and wear gloves. To treat dry, cracked heels, apply aloe vera lotion or vitamin E oil and wear socks.
- Apply a lip balm with sunscreen to the lips before going outdoors in both winter and summer.
