Lips Parched? Try This Natural Balm

After a long day of skiing, or just working outdoors, you may find your lips are as dry as a piece of toast. Just use this recipe to make an all-purpose balm that not only moisturizes the lips, but softens fingertips, cuticles, heels and elbows.

Dry Skin and Lip Balm Recipe

1/3 c. melted beeswax

1 1/2 c. olive oil

1 tablespoon glycerin, vegetable, USP (Available in the pharmacy section.)

Melt the beeswax over low heat in a pot or double boiler. In a separate pot, heat the olive oil and glycerin but not to boil, just to heat it.

Add the beeswax to the olive oil and stir over low heat until combined. Then pour into small glass jars or little round tins and allow it to cool at room temperature before sealing with lids.

Note: If you don’t find glycerin in the pharmacy section of your favorite store, ask the pharmacist to order it for you.
