greentealgGoing green these days not only keeps the planet healthier but it can keep you healthier too. You have probably heard or read that green tea in particular is good for you, but do you know why?

Researches and advocates of green tea point to many health advantages including green tea’s ability to help:

Lower cholesterol levels.

Inhibit growth of cancer cells.

Reduce heart disease and strokes.

Prevent tooth decay.

Green tea is rich in anti-oxidants, which help the body fight off disease.  Although not all the hard evidence is in, it’s pretty clear that green tea offers real and natural health advantages for overall health and weight maintenance, as well as the prevention of possible future illnesses. Many scientists suggest drinking two or more 8-ounce cups per day for maximum benefit.

Why green rather than other teas?  It’s the way it’s processed. Green tea leaves are steamed, which prevents the EGCG compound from being oxidized. Other teas are made from fermented leaves which breaks down the healthy compounds found in tea leaves.
