Litton Entertainment Launches "Storm Stories" Web Module

Back to 2008 Press Releases

Partnership With Farmers' Almanac Provides Additional Weather Content

For Immediate Release – November 10th, 2008

Litton Entertainment is launching a STORM STORIES companion web module for stations as additional content to the popular series, which has seen ratings increase every week since the series debuted in September. The web module, offered to STORM STORIES stations at no charge, can be customized and has local sponsorship availability.

Through a partnership with Farmers’ Almanac, a timeless and trusted source for weather information since 1818, the web module has additional historical weather and long-range forecasting content.

The web module features the following components:
  • Video Player — plays clips of extreme weather events from the STORM STORIES series.
  • Weather Time Machine — users enter their zip code and a date in history to find out weather news and events for that date.  This is provided by content partner Farmers’ Almanac.
  • Historical Weather Headlines —updates automatically on a daily basis and supplies the major weather headlines for that day of the month back to the 1800s.
  • Long Range Weather Forecaster —allows users to check long-range weather predictions based on the Farmers’ Almanac famous prediction formula.
  • STORM STORIES Interactive Game — users can see how they fare against the forces of Mother Nature with a “choose your path” game, as they respond to a crisis weather situation taken from the series.
  • Phases Of The Moon — a real-time moon phase display that shows the current moon phase, date and time.  Users select which hemisphere of Earth they would like to monitor.
STORM STORIES is the highly-acclaimed, unscripted series capturing the collision of Mother Nature with unsuspecting individuals. Broadcasters have responded enthusiastically to the series, particularly to the customizable format options designed by Litton, with features such as live local news and weather updates from station meteorologists. Featuring unbelievable raw footage of nature unleashed, STORM STORIES reveals the fury and power of extreme weather and the drama of those who find themselves in its path.
