Make Your Own Cooking Mixes
©By Deborah S. Tukuawww.hollycreekbooks.com
Here’s a way to save time and money in the kitchen, as well as control the types of food your family eats: pre-mixing the dry ingredients for pancakes, brownies, cakes, cookies, cornbread and other meals/desserts.
To do so, all you need to do is get a bit organized and follow these tips:
- Determine how many times you’d like to prepare pancakes, waffles, cakes or brownies this month.
- Set out that number of Ziploc freezer storage bags.
- Reading the recipe, add all of the dry ingredients for one batch to each freezer bag.
- Label the bag with the recipe name and the date.
- Store in freezer, to keep the mixes fresh for months.
- When its time to make pancakes or brownies, add the eggs, water, oil and other wet ingredients to a bowl along with the dry ingredients from one bag, following the recipe instructions.
