Secret Ingredients for Better Tasting Dishes

Moistest Cookies Around
Turn any cookie recipe into "the best ever" by adding one package of instant pudding mix to the dry ingredients. Your cookies will be moist and chewy every time. Vanilla pudding works with any recipe, but other flavors will also work. For example, you can add banana pudding to your favorite oatmeal cookie recipe!

Creamy Secret

When making fish chowder, mixing one can of evaporated milk with the whole milk makes the chowder creamier. Also, when you make chocolate cream pie, use the chocolate pudding that needs to be cooked on the stove rather than instant. Again, use one can of evaporated milk plus enough whole milk to make 3 cups. You'll have a much creamier pie.

Easiest & Quickest Frosting
To make a good, quick frosting, start by boiling a small potato. Once it is soft, mash it and add the powdered sugar and vanilla.

For Tasty Soup & Chili
Add two cups of V-8 juice to homemade soup or chili. It really adds a lot of flavor.

Blueberry Pie Tip
When you make a blueberry pie from frozen blueberries, it sometimes comes out a little juicy. To avoid that just add a teaspoon or two of instant tapioca to the pie filling.

Mayonnaise a popular secret Ingredient . . .

Mayo With Poultry
When roasting chickens or turkeys, cover them with mayonnaise and roast them upside down. The mayonnaise seals in the juices, and roasting the birds upside down helps keep the breast meat very juicy.

Mayo With Seafood
When baking haddock, spread mayonnaise on the fish and then cover it with Ritz™ cracker crumbs and various spices. The mayonnaise keeps the fish from drying out during the baking process!

As A Lower Fat Alternative

Instead of frying chicken in oil, skin the chicken and spread low fat mayonnaise on the meat. Then coat the chicken with breadcrumbs and bake. (This works well for pork chops too!) The mayonnaise helps keep the meat juicy, helps the bread crumbs stick on better, and allows you to make tasty baked breaded chicken (or pork) rather than frying it in oil.

For the tastiest Meat loaf & Meatballs . . .
  1. When I make my meat loaf or meatballs, I use Ritz crackers instead of breadcrumbs or saltine crackers. The Ritz crackers give the meat a sweeter taste.
  2. Try adding crushed barbecue potato chips to your meat loaf before cooking. They add a great taste.
  3. Stuffing mix is a tasty additive for a meat loaf, and it is also excellent when sprinkled over the top of any casserole. Adding just a pinch of nutmeg to your meatballs gives them a little extra zing.
  4. The secret ingredient for a great meat loaf is a tablespoon of barbecue sauce added to the meat before cooking. And for meatballs, I add about a tablespoon of grated Parmesan cheese.
