Barbecued Spareribs

4 lbs. pork spareribs, cut into serving-size pieces
1 tbsp. butter
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2-cup chili sauce
1⁄2cup catsup
2 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. onion, chopped
1 tbsp. prepared mustard
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. celery seed
1⁄4 tsp. salt
Dash of hot sauce
3 thin lemon slices


Simmer ribs in salted water in large Dutch oven for 1 hour. In a saucepan, melt butter. Add garlic and sauté for 4 to 5 minutes. Add rest of ingredients. Heat to boiling. Drain ribs and place in a shallow baking pan. Pour sauce over ribs. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, basting often.
