Bill Barker's Beer Bread
Beer Bread
3 cups self-rising flour
2 tablespoons sugar
12 ounces beer
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Stir together flour and sugar then pour in room temperature beer and stir 25 strokes. Place in a buttered bread pan and bake 1 to 1-1/4 hours. Cool and wrap in foil or a plastic bag over night. This bread has a heavy crust. Variations include the addition of fresh or dried onion, garlic salt, small jar ground oysters, yogurt for a sourdough flavor, and egg for texture.
