Chocolate Bread Pudding

1 cup dry bread crumbs

1 cup sugar

1 square baking chocolate, shaved

1/4 tsp. salt

2 cups milk, scalded

1 tsp. vanilla

1 tbsp. butter

1 egg, well beaten


Mix bread crumbs with shaved chocolate. Add scalded milk in saucepan. Stir over low heat until chocolate is melted. Add butter, cook slightly. Add remaining ingredients. Pour into well greased (6 cup casserole). Bake at 375° for 1 hour or until sharp knife inserted in center comes out clean. Serve with whipped cream.
