¼ tsp. salt
½ tsp. soda
¾ tsp. baking powder
½ cup butter
½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
? cup light corn syrup
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
Sift together flour, salt, soda and baking powder. Heat butter, sugar, syrup, and chocolate over hot water until chocolate over hot water until chocolate melts. Blend dry ingredients into chocolate mixture. Let batter stand over hot water away from heat. Drop by half-teaspoonfuls, 3” apart, on greased baking sheet. Bake in slow oven (325 ?) for 8-10 minutes. Allow to cool slightly for 1 minute. Remove cookies carefully to cooling racks. While still warm, roll each cookie around handle of wooden spoon. Makes 5-6 dozen cookies.
