String Beans Marinara

1 lb string beans

3 tbsp olive oil

1 clove garlic, finely minced

1 8oz can of Hunts tomato sauce

2 tbsp fresh basil, optional

Salt and pepper to taste


 


  • Wash the string beans and trim just the end that was attached to the stem.
  • Bring a sauce pot of water to boil. Salt the water and add the string beans. Boil until the string beans are tender but still quite firm.
  • In a sauce pan, sauté the garlic in the olive oil over high heat until the garlic is lightly colored. Lower heat and add the tomato sauce. Add basil, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  • Add the string beans to the tomato sauce, and simmer on very low heat for 20 minutes. Don’t let the string beans get mushy.
