Sweet Potatoes Hawaiian

2 cups cooked, mashed sweet potatoes
1 cup coconut
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons butter or oleo
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
Mix well and bake at 300 for 30 minutes.
Topping:
1 large jar maraschino cherries and juice
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon red food coloring (opt)
1 small can crushed pineapple and juice
Mix well and cook over low heat until mixture boils; stir for 2 minutes more. Cool and spread on top of potatoes.
