Whiskey Cake
1 box of Duncan Hines Yellow cake mix
1 package Jello brand instant vanilla pudding
½ cup Crisco oil
4 eggs, beaten
1 cup milk
¼ cup whiskey (rum, rye, etc.)
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Ingredients for Glaze
¼ cup butter
½ cup whiskey
¾ cup sugar
1. Place all the cake ingredients except for the nuts in a mixing bowl. Beat at medium speed for 3 minutes. Add the nuts to the mixture. Pour into a greased and floured 10 inch tube pan.
2. Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for 1 hour.
3. Combine all the glaze ingredients and heat until boiling. Remove from heat and set aside.
4. When cake is done, drizzle ½ of the glaze over top and return to oven for 30 to 35 minutes at 200 degrees
5. Cool for ½ hour. Invert in cake dish. Drizzle remaining glaze over cake.
Notes
· This cake is quite potent if you have been
noticing the amount of whiskey in the glaze. It is delicious, but don’t drive
afterwards.
