The Year of No SummerIn prolonged human suffering, no other disaster in New England in history matched the frigid summer of 1816, the coldest in American annals. To this day, no accurate record exists as to the number who perished, or what the financial loss might have been in a winter that lasted from November of 1815 until April 1817.
