One of the worst in my short history was in 1997 in Westcliffe Colorado. On Halloween, October 31, 1997 we were out bringing cattle in to sort and send to buyers. The storm hit, putting 30" of snow on the ground and a mild case of hypothermia. The temperature dropped and stayed down. Our Thanksgiving plant was to be in California with family and on November 22nd we headed back home due to an impending storm. We had livestock we needed to prepare for the storm. We drove 22 hours straight to get home, the sky was clear, we were tired and decided to do preparations "in the morning". We awoke to over 40" of snow on the ground and livestock stranded. Thanks to great neighbors, we were able to get to our livestock in 4 days, all was well, we moved them prepared for another one and made it without loss of one. God was on our side, what a wake up call to the what Mother Nature and bestow upon us.
