Top Three Favorite Weather Storms

Funny isn't it? While most of us enjoy sunny days with cloudless skies and comfortable temperatures, there's something alluring or romantic about a snowstorm. Is it because of how pure the ground and roads look upon first snowfall? Or maybe it's due to the fact that life is way too busy, and sometimes weather - bad weather - gives us a reason to slow down, to stay indoors and catch up on down time.

Whatever the reason, there are some people who are passionate about not-so-nice weather. No one, including the Farmers' Almanac, will downplay the havoc and danger some of these storms represent, but we're talking about milder ones, ones that are nice to observe, but don't do a lot of damage.

1. Snowstorm - Who doesn't love the first snowfall - especially when it's between 3-6 inches and around the holidays?! There's something magical about the way the snow white crystals blanket your yard, driveway, trees, and roads. It's fun to go out and enjoy this magical "frosting" that has been added to our landscape. Snowstorms - before we have to deal with the shoveling and getting around in them - remind us to take time out to enjoy what nature offers us and to be a kid again and play in the snow.

2. Summer Thunderstorm. Think about a warm summer afternoon when you're at home or have nothing special to do when the wind starts picking up and the sky starts to fill up with ominous-looking and colored clouds. Sometimes watching a thunderstorm from a safe distance is a great experience. There's something real about experiencing nature when a storm is coming.

3. Rain Storm– Sometimes a rainy day – especially when you don't have anything special planned - is just what the doctor ordered. When the rain is falling, there seems to be an overall acceptance to the fact that you can curl up and read a book, watch a movie, or take a nap. Yes, sometimes rainy days are the best.
