Chocolate Mocha Punch

Chocolate Mocha Punch


7 cups water
½ cup instant coffee
2 cups nonfat dry milk
½ cup sugar
Dash of salt
1 quart chocolate ice ream, softened
Whipped cream
Ground nutmeg


Heat 1 cup water to boiling. Dissolve instant coffee in water. Stir in remaining water, the dry milk, sugar, and salt. Refrigerate until chilled- 3 to 4 hours. Place ice cream in punch bowl. Pour chilled coffee mixture over ice cream, swirl ice cream through coffee mixture. Top punch with mounds of whipped dream. Sprinkle mounts with nutmeg and ladle into glasses. Serves 16.

If you notice a hole in the upper left-hand corner of your Farmers' Almanac, don't return it to the store! That hole isn't a defect; it's a part of history. Starting with the first edition of the Farmers' Almanac in 1818, readers used to nail holes into the corners to hang it up in their homes, barns, and outhouses (to provide both reading material and toilet paper). In 1919, the Almanac's publishers began pre-drilling holes in the corners to make it even easier for readers to keep all of that invaluable information (and paper) handy.
