Labor Day Weather Forecast

It’s hard to believe summer is winding down! While the last full day of summer is officially September 22 (the first full day of fall is Saturday, September 23), Labor Day is considered the “unofficial” last weekend of the season. It’s a federal holiday celebrated on the first Monday in September in both the United States and Canada. In 2023 Labor Day (or Labour Day in Canada) is Monday, September 4.

We checked our long-range weather forecast and here’s what Farmers’ Almanac 2024 predicts for the long holiday weekend and the days following, beginning Friday, September 1 through Thursday, September 7, 2023 for the US and Canada:

United States Labor Day Forecast

• 1^st – 3^rd – Scattered showers for Labor Day weekend; risk of an isolated heavy thunderstorm, then fair.
• 4^th – 7^th – Generally fair, warm, humid.

• 1^st – 3^rd – Wet IL-MI area for Labor Day weekend, then fair.
• 4^th – 7^th – Pleasant late summer weather.

• 1^st – 3^rd – Scattered showers may dampen holiday weekend plans, then turning fair.
• 4^th – 7^th – Generally fair; very warm, humid.

• 1^st – 3^rd – Showers Labor Day weekend over ND south to NE.
• 4^th – 7^th – Pleasant, then thunderstorms for MT, south to CO.

• 1^st – 3^rd – Unsettled Labor Day weekend; Showers Plains States; mainly cloudy NM, TX.
• 4^th – 7^th – Pleasant conditions, then thunderstorms over Rocky Mountains to TX, OK.

• 1^st – 3^rd – Clearing skies Labor Day weekend.
• 4^th – 7^th – Pleasant, then turning unsettled.

Canada Labour Day Forecast

• 4^th – 7^th – Clearing skies for Labour Day and becoming pleasant.

• 1^st – 3^rd – Scattered showers.
• 4^th – 7^th – Wet over Quebec for Labour Day ; clouds for the Maritimes.

• 1^st – 3^rd – Fair Great Lakes.
• 4^th – 7^th – Some thunderstorms for Labour Day.

• 1^st – 3^rd – Fair skies.
• 4^th – 7^th – A few showers coincide with the Labour Day holiday over Alberta and Prairies.
