Venus Meets the Sun Tonight: What This Rare Astrological Moment Means for Your Zodiac Sign

Something unusual is happening with Venus tonight, and astrologers have a special name for it: cazimi.

On Friday, October 23, 2026, Venus and the Sun meet in the zodiac sign of Scorpio. The exact conjunction occurs at approximately 11:44 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, just hours before Mercury begins its retrograde.

That makes today especially interesting for anyone following the current planetary retrogrades. Venus has been retrograde since October 3, and tonight marks a turning point in its apparent backward journey through the zodiac.

In astrology, Venus represents love, attraction, relationships, money, and the things we value most. Its meeting with the Sun is traditionally interpreted as a moment of clarity or renewal.

Does that mean you’ll suddenly get answers about your love life tonight? Not necessarily. But if you’ve been reconsidering a relationship, an old decision, or what you really want, the symbolism is certainly fitting.

And each zodiac sign has something different to consider today.

What Is Venus Cazimi, and Why Is October 23 Special?

The word cazimi comes from a traditional astrological expression meaning “in the heart of the Sun.”

It describes a planet positioned extremely close to the Sun from Earth’s perspective. Astrologers have historically treated this as a special condition, when a planet is symbolically strengthened by its closeness to the Sun.

Tonight’s conjunction is particularly noteworthy because Venus is retrograde.

In astronomical terms, Venus is passing between Earth and the Sun in what is called an inferior conjunction. The alignment is real, but its supposed influence on relationships or personal decisions belongs to astrology, not established science.

This event also happens on the first day of Scorpio season, which begins when the Sun enters Scorpio at approximately 5:38 a.m. EDT.

Scorpio is traditionally associated with trust, intimacy, secrets, emotional depth, and transformation. Combine that symbolism with Venus, and it’s easy to see why astrologers consider today’s conjunction significant for relationships and personal values.

There’s another twist: Mercury turns retrograde early Saturday, October 24.

But today deserves a closer look of its own.

Your October 23, 2026 Horoscope: What Venus Cazimi Means for Each Zodiac Sign

These readings are based on traditional Western astrology, using Scorpio’s position relative to each Sun sign. If you know your rising sign, you can read that one, too.

Think of these as reflective prompts inspired by today’s planetary positions, not predictions of events that are guaranteed to happen.

Aries (March 21–April 19)

Today’s theme: Get clear about what you’re sharing.

For Aries, tonight’s Venus cazimi highlights the astrological area associated with shared resources, emotional vulnerability, and trust.

Is there a financial arrangement or personal commitment that you’ve been meaning to look at more closely?

Perhaps you share expenses with a partner, or you’ve agreed to something without fully discussing the details. Today offers a good excuse to check that everyone understands the arrangement the same way.

Your move today: Look over one shared financial or practical responsibility. If something is unclear, write down the question you need answered before making another commitment.

Taurus (April 20–May 20)

Today’s theme: Notice what makes you feel appreciated.

Venus is your ruling planet, making tonight’s conjunction especially relevant in traditional interpretations of your sign.

The emphasis falls on partnerships, including romantic relationships, close friendships, and important one-on-one connections.

You may find yourself thinking about what makes a relationship feel genuinely satisfying. Is it affection? Reliability? Being able to laugh together? Having somebody who listens without immediately offering advice?

Your move today: Tell someone one specific thing you appreciate about them. Then consider whether you’ve been communicating your own needs just as clearly.

Gemini (May 21–June 20)

Today’s theme: Make your day work better for you.

For Gemini, the Venus cazimi falls in the area of daily routines, work, and well-being.

You may be particularly aware of how much time you spend doing things that feel necessary but not especially rewarding.

Before you redesign your entire schedule, look for one small adjustment that would make an ordinary Friday more enjoyable.

Maybe that means taking a proper lunch break, organizing a cluttered workspace, or finally dealing with a task that’s been nagging at you all week.

Your move today: Eliminate one unnecessary complication from your routine. You don’t need a complete life overhaul to make the day better.

Cancer (June 21–July 22)

Today’s theme: Remember what makes you happy.

Today’s conjunction brings attention to the astrological area associated with romance, creativity, pleasure, and self-expression.

When was the last time you did something purely because you enjoyed it?

The responsibilities of everyday life have a habit of claiming every available hour. Tonight’s symbolism offers a reminder that enjoyment deserves a place on your calendar, too.

If you’ve been thinking about reaching out to someone you like, returning to a creative project, or making plans for a little fun, today is a good time to consider what you really want.

Your move today: Make room for one enjoyable activity before the weekend gets swallowed by errands.

Leo (July 23–August 22)

Today’s theme: Pay attention to the atmosphere at home.

For Leo, Venus meets the Sun in the astrological area of home, family, and personal foundations.

You may find yourself thinking about what makes your living space feel comfortable or which family traditions still matter to you.

With autumn well underway, perhaps you’ve been meaning to make your home a little cozier. Or maybe you’d rather spend a quiet evening with someone close than accept another social invitation.

Your move today: Do one small thing that makes home feel more welcoming. It could be as simple as clearing the dining table, making a favorite dinner, or calling a relative you’ve missed.

Virgo (August 23–September 22)

Today’s theme: Choose your words carefully, but use them.

For Virgo, tonight’s Venus cazimi emphasizes communication, everyday conversations, and the way you exchange ideas.

With Mercury, your ruling planet, preparing to turn retrograde tomorrow, today is an especially fitting time to consider what you want to say and how you want to say it.

Perhaps there’s a message you’ve started several times without sending. Or you may realize that a conversation would be easier if you stopped trying to anticipate every possible response.

Your move today: Write down the main point of an important conversation in one sentence. When you’re ready to talk, start there rather than explaining everything around it.

Libra (September 23–October 22)

Today’s theme: Decide what’s worth your money and attention.

Venus also rules Libra, and today’s conjunction falls in the area traditionally associated with income, possessions, and personal values.

This is an interesting moment to think about the difference between something you genuinely want and something you’re buying out of habit.

Maybe you’ve had an expensive item sitting in your online cart for days. Or perhaps a subscription, membership, or regular expense no longer seems worthwhile.

Your move today: Review one purchase you’ve been considering. Ask yourself whether it adds something meaningful to your life or simply looks appealing right now.

Scorpio (October 23–November 21)

Today’s theme: Start your new season on your own terms.

Happy Scorpio season!

The Sun enters your sign this morning, and tonight it meets retrograde Venus in Scorpio. In traditional astrology, that makes this a particularly personal conjunction for your sign.

Today’s symbolism centers on identity, self-image, and how you want to present yourself to the world.

You don’t need to announce a dramatic transformation. You might simply notice that something you’ve outgrown no longer feels right.

Your move today: Choose one thing you’d like more of during your birthday season. More time alone? Better friendships? A new experience? Write it down and consider one realistic way to make room for it.

Sagittarius (November 22–December 21)

Today’s theme: Give yourself room to think.

For Sagittarius, the Venus cazimi falls in a quieter, more private part of the astrological chart.

While you may normally prefer movement, company, or a new adventure, today’s symbolism encourages a little time away from distractions.

That doesn’t mean you need to disappear for the weekend. Sometimes an uninterrupted walk, a quiet drive, or an hour without your phone is enough to help you sort through competing thoughts.

Your move today: Protect a little time for yourself. Don’t automatically fill every empty space in your schedule.

Capricorn (December 22–January 19)

Today’s theme: Think about the people you want beside you.

For Capricorn, Venus meets the Sun in the astrological area associated with friendships, communities, and future hopes.

You may find yourself considering the relationships that make life more interesting and enjoyable.

Not every friendship needs to revolve around a shared goal or responsibility. Some people simply make you laugh, introduce you to new ideas, or remind you that there’s more to life than a completed to-do list.

Your move today: Get in touch with someone whose company you genuinely enjoy. Suggest a walk, coffee, or a weekend catch-up rather than waiting for an occasion.

Aquarius (January 20–February 18)

Today’s theme: Reconsider what success looks like.

For Aquarius, tonight’s conjunction highlights career, reputation, and the direction you want your life to take.

Perhaps you’ve been working toward a professional goal that once excited you but now feels less important. Or maybe you’ve discovered that flexibility, time with family, or creative freedom matters more than a particular title.

Today’s astrological symbolism invites reflection on the reasons behind your ambitions.

Your move today: Look at one goal you’re pursuing. Does achieving it still promise the kind of everyday life you want? If not, consider what you might adjust.

Pisces (February 19–March 20)

Today’s theme: Follow your curiosity.

For Pisces, the Venus cazimi emphasizes learning, travel, beliefs, and experiences that expand your perspective.

This is a fitting day to revisit something you’ve wanted to explore but kept putting off.

Maybe it’s a destination you’ve dreamed about, a subject you’ve wanted to study, or an idea that challenges the way you’ve always looked at things.

You don’t have to book a flight or enroll in a course today. Curiosity is enough of a starting point.

Your move today: Spend 20 minutes learning about something that interests you. Follow the question wherever it leads.

What Happens After Tonight’s Venus Cazimi?

Tonight’s conjunction doesn’t end Venus retrograde.

Venus continues its apparent backward motion, returning to Libra on October 25 before turning direct in November.

Meanwhile, Mercury begins its own retrograde early October 24, creating the overlapping period we’ve been watching.

Astrologers traditionally view the Venus cazimi as a symbolic midpoint or fresh beginning within the retrograde cycle rather than a moment when all its themes are resolved.

And although the planets’ positions and movements can be calculated precisely, there’s no scientific evidence that they determine your romantic prospects, financial luck, or personal decisions.

Still, there’s something appealing about using an unusual event in the sky as a reminder to consider what matters.

If tonight’s conjunction inspires you to reconnect with a friend, think more carefully about a purchase, or make time for something you’ve missed, that can be worthwhile without requiring the planets to make it happen.

One important note for skywatchers: Despite the name, the Venus cazimi isn’t something you can safely watch through a telescope. Venus is extremely close to the Sun in our sky today and lost in its glare. Never aim binoculars or an unfiltered telescope near the Sun.
