Fishing Calendar – Is Today A Good Day To Fish?
The Farmers’ Almanac Fishing Calendar is based on the phase of the Moon, the zodiac sign the Moon is in, and previous experience. Local conditions, tides, and weather may affect your fishing success.
“Remember that your ears are just as important as your eyes. Listen for bugs, critters, breaking water, river cadence, approaching weather, and the tempo of your cast.”
–April Vokey, fishing expert in Vancouver

Fishing Condition
This is the overall rating for the whole day, based upon our formula:
Best Time
This column lists the best time of the day when, according to our formula, fish will be biting: MORNING or EVENING.
What do our ratings mean?
POOR – Fish may not touch your line or steal your bait.
FAIR – You may catch one or two fishes, but you will have to work hard to do so.
GOOD – You should catch enough fish to feel satisfied!
BEST – You may catch something almost every time you cast your line in the water.

I’m in Ohio this is not working for me
I reside in Deep East Texas in a very small town/community located in The Davy Crockett National Forest and I normally like fishing in the rivers such as the Neches, Angelina and Trinity Rivers or creeks that run into the rivers. What kind of bait (besides worms and live bait) and lures would be recommended? There are Drum, white bass, striped bass, gar, sun fish or perch and blue/channel/mud cat.
This is not true for Arkansas. It never seems to be accurate around here.
Never have any luck following this format in Florida
Bass are really good.
i have been trying to catch crappie with live minnows. not too much success. should i try jigs or is the timing bad
In Minnesota. Alexandria to be exact I used a rattler. Not very big and can’t remember colors. I know there was yellow and black in it. Maybe orange and red too. I caught 40 crappies in 2 hours. Jig heads with live worm work great too. I never have any luck with minnows and shiners. Maybe gar, catfish and turtles sometimes
This is the only Jig you need for Crappie
Hey Bobby, thanks for sharing!
Where to fish for bass in November? Close to the banks or further out? Also what’s the best bait. Minnows or worms or rubber worms.
Need fishing months for September, October, November and December (2025). Where can I find these?
Hi Erin, the 2025 print edition has the entire 2025 year’s worth of fishing dates (buy here on our shop link or amazon) but you can also become a member and get it online here – https://www.farmersalmanac.com/online-memberships
never had any luck with this calendar unfortunately
Sometimes when the calender reads a good day to fish I automatically get the attitude I’m going to catch fish and that confidence allowed me to actually go and enjoy . Tight lines!
We love to hear it! Best wishes from all of us at Farmers’ Almanac. Post a picture of your last big catch!
Love this calendar
Thank you! We do too! It has provided many a successful day on the water for us!
