Whatever your plans for New Year's Eve, you'll want to know the weather! Here's what we're forecasting.

New Year’s Eve is traditionally one of the most festive nights of the year, but how it’s celebrated is a little different for everyone. For some, it’s a wild night out. For others, it’s a quiet time at home streaming the live ball drop in Times Square. Either way, you’ll want to know the New Year’s Eve weather!

Here’s a look at what we’re predicting for your region for Thursday, December 28—Sunday, December 31, 2023.

UNITED STATES

Zone 1 – Northeast & New England

New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Washington D.C.

As we wish a fond farewell to 2023, a renewed threat of precipitation begins.

A snowy field to represent possible weather new year's eve.

Zone 2 – Great Lakes, Ohio Valley & Midwest

Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Wisconsin

Fair skies ring in 2024 with increasing clouds.

Zone 3 – Southeast

Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida

A storm coming up the Atlantic Seaboard may bring precipitation for the end of 2023.

Zone 4 – North Central

Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana

Mostly fair, unsettled as we sing Auld Lang Syne.

Zone 5 – South Central

Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico

Fair skies with a possibility of some unsettled weather to blow in for the big night of celebrations.

Zone 6 – Northwest

Washington, Oregon, Idaho

Fair skies, then becoming unsettled, especially along the coast for the year-end celebration.

Zone 7 – Southwest

California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona

Fair skies, then unsettled with showers for the Pacific Coast, through year’s end. Hopefully it won’t affect the parade on New Year’s Day.


CANADA

Zone 1

Newfoundland, Labrador

A gradual clearing will bring cold weather to close out the year.

Zone 2

Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Quebec

Unsettled weather; gusty winds for PEI and Nova Scotia, as 2023 comes to a close.

Zone 3

Ontario

Unsettled conditions move in from the west as we say goodbye to 2023.

Zone 4

Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan

Severe storm for Manitoba and points east. Alberta and Saskatchewan gradually clear as we close the book on 2023.

Zone 5

British Columbia

Clearing skies for the end of 2023.
