Fall Weather Forecast 2025 – United States
Flirty, Flurry Fall
As summer fades and the crispness of autumn settles in, Fall 2025 is shaping up to be a season of contrasts across the United States. From early chills in the North to lingering warmth in the South, and from stormy skies to tranquil stretches, this fall will keep us on our toes.
September 2025
September kicks off with a bang—Labor Day weekend brings a mix of weather, with thunderstorms threatening parts of the Northeast and Southeast, while the Midwest and West enjoy clearer skies. The month continues with a tug-of-war between fair weather and storm systems, including a notable hurricane threat along the Atlantic Seaboard in early September.

Severe thunderstorms and even tornado potential loom over the central states, particularly the Ohio Valley and the Plains. By the end of the month, cooler air begins to move southward, especially across the Rockies and Great Lakes.
October 2025
October ushers in familiar fall weather. The Northeast and Great Lakes regions begin to flirt with early snow, especially in higher elevations, while the Southeast enjoys a stretch of pleasant weather—perfect for fall festivals and Halloween preparations. However, don’t be fooled by the calm!

Stormy interludes return mid-month, bringing rain and gusty winds across much of the country. By Halloween, trick-or-treaters in the North may need to bundle up, as chilly air and scattered showers are likely. Jump to Halloween forecast details!
November 2025
November brings the first real taste of winter for many. Snow becomes more frequent in the Rockies, Plains, and Great Lakes, with wet snow even reaching parts of the Northeast. The Southeast sees a mix of rain and clearing skies, while the Southwest and Northwest experience unsettled conditions with mountain snow.
Thanksgiving week looks like a meteorological mixed bag—light snow and rain could complicate travel plans in the central and eastern U.S., but many areas should see clearing skies just in time for the holiday feast.

Coldest Conditions
Throughout the season, the coldest conditions will settle into the North Central states and the interior Northeast, especially by late October and into November. Meanwhile, the Southeast and Southwest will enjoy milder, more stable weather, though not without the occasional storm.
Rain and Snow
The wettest regions this fall will be the Great Lakes, Northeast, and parts of the Southeast, while the driest stretches are expected in the Southwest and parts of the West Coast.
As for the first snowfall? Expect flakes to fly in the northern Rockies and Montana as early as early October, with snow reaching the Great Lakes and Northeast by mid to late October. By November, snow will be a regular visitor across much of the northern tier.
So whether you’re planning a leaf-peeping road trip, prepping your Halloween costume, or hosting Thanksgiving dinner, keep an eye on the skies—Fall 2025 is bringing a little bit of everything.

Fall Weather Forecast 2025 – Canada
As autumn paints the Canadian landscape in vibrant hues, Fall 2025 is shaping up to be a season of dramatic weather contrasts across the country. From the Atlantic to the Pacific, Canadians can expect a mix of cool temperatures, wet spells, and early snow, with brief windows of sunshine—just in time for Thanksgiving and Halloween.
Overall, the fall season will trend cooler than average, particularly across the Prairie Provinces and Atlantic Canada. Newfoundland and Labrador are expected to experience frequent chilly spells, while the Prairies will see early cold snaps and even wet snow by mid-October. In contrast, southern Ontario and parts of British Columbia will enjoy some of the warmest and most temperate days of the season, especially in early October and mid-November.

According to our Extended Fall Forecast, rain will be a recurring theme for Canada. All along the Atlantic Coast, especially Newfoundland, will see a wet September with a threat of a hurricane mid-Month. Ontario and Quebec will contend with heavy showers and thunderstorms throughout October, while British Columbia will experience frequent Pacific-driven rain systems. Meanwhile, higher elevations in Quebec, British Columbia, and the Prairies may see wet snow as early as October, with more widespread snowfall expected across Ontario, the Prairies, and Atlantic Canada by November.
Thanksgiving weekend, which falls on October 13, offers a brief reprieve from the unsettled weather. Much of Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia are forecast to enjoy pleasant, partly sunny conditions—ideal for family gatherings and outdoor strolls. However, the Prairies may see rain or wet snow, and Atlantic Canada will remain cool, though skies are expected to improve.
As Halloween approaches on October 31, trick-or-treaters across the country should prepare for a chilly and potentially wet evening. Ontario and the Prairies may see a mix of rain and snow, while British Columbia could face stormy conditions. Provinces on the Atlantic Coast will likely be cool and showery, so waterproof costumes and warm layers will be a must.
Fall 2025 in Canada will be a season of shifting skies and changing temperatures, with moments of calm nestled between bouts of rain, snow, and wind. Whether you’re planning a Thanksgiving feast or a spooky Halloween night, be sure to keep an eye on the forecast—and your umbrella close at hand.

I think the western half of Pennsylvania should be included in the “Ohio Valley”. The eastern part of Pennsylvania has always looked down on us, here in Pittsburgh and vicinity. This area is the beginning of the “Ohio Valley” where the Two Rivers form the Ohio river.
Hi Dean, Thanks for your suggestion. We know lots of fine people from Western Pennsylvania. You are a valued member of our community here.
