2024 Sturgeon Moon Astrology

August’s Sturgeon Moon will reach peak illumination on August 19, 2024, at 2:26 p.m. Eastern time (though you may see and feel its influence from August 16-22). Astrologically, this full Moon will occur in Aquarius (27 degrees). August’s full Moon is a Blue Moon by the seasonal definition. More than that, it will be a Supermoon—the first of four Supermoons in a row. Full Moons ar known for their intensity, but supermoons come even closer to the Earth and are believed to be more potent.

When it comes to planetary aspects coloring this lunation, we will experience a few different energetic frequencies. First and foremost, the full Moon is square Uranus, which will bring sudden surprises, challenges, chaos, or accidents out of left field. You may feel immensely rebellious, impulsive, and dramatic at this time. Even if you do not stir the pot, someone or something external may shake up your life out of nowhere.

The full Moon is opposite Mercury, which will bring a flurry of activity, communications, and situations for us to handle, but you may feel overwhelmed as you strive to find a balance with your mind and emotions.

On a positive note, the full Moon is distantly linked with Mars, bringing us a surge of passion to power through obstacles. Venus adds some obstacles to this full Moon, too, as she is exactly square Mars and Jupiter and opposite Saturn. Avoid making major decisions, promises, or plans around love or relationships, as you will likely not be seeing clearly.

Last to mention is that Uranus, ruler of this lunation, is sextile Neptune and trine Pluto. This can show that if we are dedicated to making positive changes personally, professionally, and spiritually in our lives, we will evolve to a much higher vibration.

One last thing to note: We officially enter eclipse season on August 18, as a lunar eclipse will appear on September 18. (We always begin eclipse season one month prior). This means we could hear especially intense news now or in the weeks ahead. Destined turning points, endings, breakdowns, and breakthroughs are all possible as we march forward further into eclipse season.
