Farmers’ Almanac Releases Wet Winter Whirlwind Forecast For Canada

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lewiston, ME – August 12, 2024: Get ready for a stormy winter Canada! The Farmers’ Almanac is releasing its 2024/25 winter forecast and is warning that this winter is shaping up to be a “wet whirlwind” of a season, meaning there will be a lot of precipitation and storms. Depending on where you live, this precipitation may bring lots of snow or rain.

How Cold Will Winter Be?

The Almanac is predicting winter’s chill to settle over the Prairies into the Great Lakes region for much of the winter. Quebec and the Maritimes might catch a break with near-normal winter temperatures, but British Columbia should see a chilly season.

Snow?

The eastern third of the country, especially around the Great Lakes, is forecast to see a whirlwind of storms. The Newfoundland and Labrador regions will have a wet winter overall with some snow, but with mostly above normal winter temperatures predicted, much of this precipitation will be in the form of rain.

According to the Almanac, the best chances for some great powder may be in British Columbia and the Prairies. Quebec should also see some decent snowfall, but the storms in Ontario may be more rain and ice.

Winter Warnings

The 2025 Farmers’ Almanac suggests keeping a close watch on the final week of January for an active storm track that could bring heavy precipitation and strong winds to the eastern half of Canada.
