Happy National S’mores Day!
August 10 is National S’mores Day, and there may be no better excuse to gather around the campfire, roast a few marshmallows, and enjoy one of summer’s simplest—and most delicious—traditions.
The classic s’more needs just three ingredients: graham crackers, chocolate, and toasted marshmallows. Roast your marshmallow until it’s perfectly golden brown—or let it catch fire for a few seconds if you prefer that crispy, charred flavor—then place it on top of a piece of chocolate and sandwich everything between two graham crackers. The heat from the marshmallow helps soften the chocolate, creating that familiar combination of gooey, melty, crunchy sweetness generations of campers have enjoyed.

Tips for the Perfect S’more
For an extra-melty s’more, place your chocolate on one of the graham crackers near the warmth of the fire for a few moments before adding the marshmallow. This gives the chocolate a head start on melting.
When roasting marshmallows, patience pays off. Hold your marshmallow a little farther away from the flames and slowly rotate it for an evenly toasted, golden exterior with a soft center. If you’re a fan of the burnt-marshmallow method, keep it closer to the flame—but be ready to blow it out quickly!
You can also switch things up by trying different types of chocolate. Milk chocolate is the traditional choice, but dark chocolate, white chocolate, peanut butter cups, caramel-filled chocolate, or other favorite candy bars can give your s’more a fun twist.
Another handy trick is to assemble your graham crackers and chocolate before you start roasting. Once that marshmallow is hot and ready, you’ll be able to sandwich it immediately without fumbling around for ingredients.

No Campfire? No Problem!
You don’t have to be camping to celebrate National S’mores Day. S’mores can be made over a backyard fire pit, on the grill, or carefully indoors.
For an easy indoor version, place graham cracker halves on a baking sheet, top them with chocolate and marshmallows, and warm them briefly in the oven or under the broiler until the marshmallows are toasted. Keep a close eye on them—they can go from golden brown to burnt very quickly.
You can also get creative by making s’mores-inspired desserts, including s’mores cookies, brownies, cupcakes, ice cream sundaes, or even a shareable s’mores dip with melted chocolate and toasted marshmallows.
However you make them, s’mores are best enjoyed with good company and a little bit of summer fun.
So grab the marshmallows, break out the chocolate, snap apart those graham crackers, and enjoy a sweet taste of summer.
Happy National S’mores Day! 🔥🍫
