The 12th day of Christmas usually 5 or 6 January is aka Epiphamy of 3 Kings Day because according to Christian folklore (Sorry I am a Shintoist now) this was the day the 3 kings Melchiorre, Gaspar and Balthazaar arrived to view the newborn child and brought an infant gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh and I dunno what they expected the kid’s surrogate father, his Mama and the kid himself to do w/ a drug, an herb and well gold has always been gold and I suppose that family could be as greedy as any other family.
I do have an issue with Santa’s reindeer – Doc was not a reindeer but neither is Donner. Donder is the name of the reindeer not Donner.
Santa has a total of nine reindeer. Their names are Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and, of course, Rudolph.
Yes Jeanne and in German Donder means thunder and blitzen means lightning. Moore is an English name so I wonder why old Reverend Clement Clark Moore chose German for two of the reindeer unless he was honouring the family’s German immigrant coachman Hans. Other than that this chap from New Amsterdam aka New York was a great poet. A shame he decided not to pursue his writing career.
Ok they have Oklahoma highlighted instead of Alabama for the first state to recognize Christmas
Fun Christmas quiz. Did okay but really enjoy learning new things too.
Merry Christmas to all and a much better New Year for all of us! Stay safe and keep well.

The Christmas Quiz has an error it identifies one of Santa’s Reindeer as Donner and it is actually Donder – Read the original poem
