Protect Your Pet’s Paws

Farmers' Almanac - Water

During the winter, massage a thin layer of petroleum jelly onto the bottom of your dog’s feet before heading outside. This will help protect your pet from salt and other winter chemicals used on roads and sidewalks to melt ice. Give paws a quick wipe before heading inside.

Dog - Veterinarian

Baking soda works great as a dry shampoo for dogs. Simply rub some directly into the fur, then brush it out. Your pup will smell fresh and clean!

Skunk Deodorizer

Striped skunk - Mammal

To remove skunk spray odor from skin, fur, or fabric, mix 1 quart 3% hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda, and a teaspoon of grease-cutting liquid dish soap. Work into the affected area with gloved hands, rinse, and reapply as needed.

Pet Hair Removal

Glove - Cleaning

To remove cat and dog hair from clothes and furniture, rub them with damp rubber gloves.

Reuse Fish Bowl/Tank Water

Goldfish - Aquarium

Got fish? Save the water each time you change the bowl or tank and use that water to water your houseplants. It’s full of nutrients.

Fight Pet Odors Naturally

Labrador Retriever - Dog Bed

Deodorize your pet’s bedding, between washings, by sprinkling it generously with baking soda, let it sit for 15 minutes, then vacuum it up. Pet odors are gone, without harsh chemicals!
