During the winter, massage a thin layer of petroleum jelly onto the bottom of your dog’s feet before heading outside. This will help protect your pet from salt and other winter chemicals used on roads and sidewalks to melt ice. Give paws a quick wipe before heading inside.
To remove skunk spray odor from skin, fur, or fabric, mix 1 quart 3% hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda, and a teaspoon of grease-cutting liquid dish soap. Work into the affected area with gloved hands, rinse, and reapply as needed.
